Feng Shui is one of the numerous traditional Chinese methods that were developed to enhance one’s health and success. Although Feng Shui works most directly with your environment, it also works in conjunction with other techniques, like astrology and numerology, to improve your and your family’s overall qi (life force energy).
What Is a Feng Shui Kua Number?
Practitioners of traditional and classical feng shui schools use the feng shui Kua number. Your Kua Number is also occasionally referred to as your personal trigram, also known as the Eight Mansions.
Feng shui practitioners will evaluate you and your home based on your feng shui Kua number. Your Kua number can provide guidance, direction, and insight into the optimal orientations for your bed, desk, and home, as well as compatibility with other individuals, including a soul mate.
Determining your feng shui Kua number is enjoyable because it is rather simple and accessible to anyone.
How to Calculate Your Feng Shui Kua Number
Gender Identification
Additionally, this system is determined differently based on the individual’s gender. Typically and traditionally, you identify with the gender assigned to you at birth. However, we propose that you pick the gender with which you identify most strongly or with which you identify most strongly at the time of your computation.
By using your birth year, you can determine your Feng Shui Kua number.
Male
Add the last two digits of your birth year. Continue adding until you reach a single digit. Deduct this from 10 if you were born prior to 2000. Deduct this from 9 if you were born in the year 2000 or later. This will provide you with your Kua number.
Example 1
Year of birth: 1944 (before year 2000)
4+4 = 8
10-8 = 2
Kua Number = 2
Example 2
Year of birth: 2010 (after year 2000)
1+0 = 1
9-1 = 8
Kua Number = 8
Female
Add the last two digits of your birth year. Continue adding until you reach a single digit. If you were born before the year 2000, add 5. If you were born in the year 2000 or later, add 6. If the result is a two-digit number, continue adding until a single digit is obtained. This will provide you with your Kua number.
Example 1
Year of birth: 1944 (before year 2000)
4+4 = 8
8+5 = 13
1+3 = 4
Kua Number = 4
Example 2
Year of birth: 2010 (after year 2000)
1+0 = 1
1+6 = 7
Kua Number = 7
*If you were born in the weeks preceding the commencement of the Lunar New Year (January or early February), your Kua is calculated using the final two numbers of the year preceding your birth year.
